Kent County: Great story from Kent County: We started out by overwhelmingly voting in a new grassroots Chair of the Convention, Tim Walenga, as well as a new Secretary of the Convention, Elizabeth Johnson. This was a monumental upset to the GOP.
Prior to the vote, Rob VerHeulen, the former Convention Chair (RINO), gave a very nice speech which was completely focused on unity. He stressed the importance that no matter who wins the vote for Chair we all need to unite together as one party to win in November. Much to our dismay, after Tim was named the new Chair, all of the establishment politicians and big money donors (Betsy DeVos, County Commissioners, members of the GOP, etc.) in the room picked up their things and left before we could even break into sub-caucus groups to nominate Delegates to the State Convention on August 27. I guess they don’t value unity after all? Or perhaps only when their nominees win? 🤷🏼♀️
That’s OK because it left room for a multitude of grassroots patriots to fill the Delegate and Alternate positions for the State Convention! I am proud to say that I was nominated to be a Delegate at the State Convention and will have a voting voice in confirming which Republican candidates for important races such as Attorney General, Secretary of State, MSU Board of Trustees, U of M Regents, and are nominated to the ballot in November. I’m so excited!!”
